The Path I Tread

#Uloko: I tread that path once, not knowing where it led.

#Ógachékó: And now you stand where the path was pointing.

#Uloko: I said I wouldn't chicken out. I didn't. But I didn't know then what staying the course would cost.

#Ógachékó: Courage was cheaper as a resolution than as a daily practice. You've paid the difference.

#Uloko: I said I had no two options, only one door to walk through. I walked through it.

#Ógachékó: And found more doors inside than you expected. Some you're still deciding whether to open.

#Uloko: I wanted to 'live', not merely 'survive'. I'm not certain, some days, which one this has been.

#Ógachékó: That uncertainty isn't failure. It's what it looks like from inside the living, before it's finished being lived.

#Uloko: I almost lost the self that used to think these through.

#Ógachékó: Then let this be proof it wasn't lost. Only quiet. A thing spoken to less is not the same as a thing gone.

#Uloko: If what is worth doing is worth doing well, and life is worth living, it should be worth living well.

#Ógachékó: and worth returning to, when you've drifted from saying so out loud.
