Snake in my Earthenware
Ibe ibe manédukpejo kid'efu otubé!
Imach'iben, ef'otubé kpófó manyejo!
After saving for four years, I earned a National Diploma from a reputable polytechnic. I was offered a job in a filling station after my NECO exam. I didn't take the WAEC exam because I couldn't afford both, and I believed NECO was more feasible compared to WAEC. I hardly dare to dream of travelling abroad. I don't envy those who are more fortunate. I hope to not be a product of circumstances.
I worked at the station for four years, and was fortunate to be intelligent which made me likable to by bosses. In truth, I could only save a small portion of my gross income during those years. Hey, I wasn't reckless or negligent with my funds. I had to cover my basic needs, support family, and other expenses. However, I was determined to pursue higher education, very unlike my older siblings.
I didn't have enough to support a student for four years, so I chose to seek for half bread instead of non. I attended polytechnic and earned an ND in civil engineering. I returned to my station as a more mature and broad minded version of who I used to be eight years ago.
Two years ago, I trained our branch cashier on managing the business cash and bank transactions.I did it in good spirit; help someone today, for you know not, where your help will come from tomorrow.
A new branch opened in town, and I was the most experienced candidate to lead it. But fate, fate always has its own way. After applying for the branch manager position and completing the screening process. I was appointed as a supervisor (deputy branch manager), while my former cashier trainee became my boss and manager. Upon further inquiry, I learned she had a Higher National Diploma while I had an ND.
Is this a coincident? or an incident that coincided? I do not know, but I don't want to become envious and earn a negative label. Perhaps fate is not on my side. If this is my fate today, then I'll make sure I don't do an HND. I'll get my Bachelor of Science and even strive to attain more, so I won't blame fate for my future ill-lucks.
I have a live snake in my mud pot, and I am careful to not kill it, I am mindful to not shatter my pot. I need to overcome this challenge to triumph for this earthenware of mine is dear to me.
You can only get rid of a snake in a mud pot with Wisdom! If not through wisdom, you'll definitely shatter the pot with the snake.
