Fraud: A Reason for Societal Moral Decay
The rate of internet fraud in our society is so high you're the only odd person for not being a sc*mmer. 7to8 of every group of 10 boys between the age of 14to27 is/was/has been/ will be a 'fraudst*r.
This is even worse in most average homes and not so well to do homes. It used to be the story after series of unsuccessful trials in life, but now, 'it is the way' (so they said).
I think this is great intelligence being channelled towards the wrong direction. We were told we'll one day be the leaders of tomorrow, even though tomorrow never ends, are we really ready to captain the ship of 'tomorrow'?
When the funds drop, the expenditure becomes extremely extravagant, the value of respect becomes dependent on the weight of your purse. Values and ethics thinned till it's almost non existent in our societies.
No worries, it's all good as boys have reduced cultism related violence. However, same boys are k*lling, butcher*ng, in the name of sacrifice. This is evil taken to the next level. It stands condemned always.
You're not from a wealthy family and you're just too serious about school and frowns against the hustle (sc*m), you never serious. Only those that are fortunate to get something doing for survival during/after school don't regret their decision to not join the horde.
This is endemic, the moral fabric of the ordinary society is decaying, our cultural pride, lost. Gone are the days you'll easily find a random man say with confidence, 'we don't steal where I come from', 'we don't sc*m where I come from', or 'I come from a hardworking society, if you see any of my kinsman behave this way, check well, he is not truly of us'.
Do you blame them? What would you have them do when the street is not friendly to the average man? When the laws are effectively implementable on the (mirage) middle class but a toothless bulld*g as you climb up the ladder of our societal caste? What do they do, when their father who retired after years of public service (serving for 35 years) only gets 2 million naira as a gratuity? he gets a meager amount as pension after spending his productive years in public service?
With a little conversation and cooked up stories and lies, they get foreign currencies which when converted to the Nigerian Naira turns big. We're now a generation that can't wait till the end of a month to earn our pay. Who wants to even be an employee? It's mostly modern day slavery with pays good enough to only give you the very next meal. Now you're a graduate, where is the job? And you say he should not venture into this irresistibly enticing enterprise?
Evil is evil. Religious/cultural values almost becoming a myth and mirage to some of them. I fear, we are nurturing a very unhygienic society. God help us.
